5. It was pointed out that the shareholders could resume

the control of the ship by altering the articles again, but this

would at once render the ship liable to forfáiture, and the

applicante sontend that the proposed alteration of the articles

will create a safer position for the Crown than the mere

existence for the time being of a majority of British shareholders

which might be destroyed at any moment by the sale of shares to

lions. The directors, however, would have power under the

articles to refuse registration of any transfer to an alien.

6. In the present soáreity of tonnage it is not desirable

to have any ships laid up.
